We're flying out of California on Air France, using points for a family of four – two adults and two kids – and we'll have to pay cash for the trip from Papeete to Bora Bora, but everything else is on points.
For Toronto, London, Bombay back to Toronto via London, the cash price for those tickets is about $30,000 but all in, I paid $6000.
I wanted to let you guys know that if you're on the fence about the course, it will pay for itself tenfold. I just recently booked a trip to Europe and the Middle East that would have cost us– for flights and hotels– about $37,000 all in for a lie-flat business class and it costs us $2,500 in cash and 550,000 points.
I'm pretty excited about getting $25,000 tickets for around $2,000 and points out of pocket.
That has been wonderful for my family.
We booked two flights–one going and another coming back, two separate bookings– for four of us on upper class Virgin Atlantic using our only 411,000 American Express membership rewards points. If we had booked that for cash, we would have paid almost $50,000 for both of those legs in upper class Virgin Atlantic.
This whole trip would have cost us $28,900 but in taxes and fees, we only paid $997. We used up points through Hyatt, United,
Capital One and Chase.
All in all this trip, if we would have paid cash, would have cost us $47,000 Canadian and so far, what we've actually spent is $2500 Canadian on various taxes and fees for the bookings and such. Can't speak to the course enough, learned a ton of knowledge on it that absolutely helped me book my trip the way I wanted to and when I was able to.
Learning different ways of earning points is wonderful, especially since I was able to recently book a ticket for two from the west coast to Asia to and from on Singapore Airlines– which is a great airline– in business class. That would have cost us over $11,000 but I paid $130 in taxes and fees. This is the way to do it!
